Francis Tea Rooms, Scarborough

Francis Tea Rooms came to my attention earlier this summer when I read a Historic England post about new listed places that were a little unusual. There are a few in Yorkshire that I was unaware of.

Francis on South Street was a 1930’s hairdressers. It’s amazing that the space lay empty for so long, untouched until it became a tea room. The hairdressers was divided up by wood panels to retain privacy during your shampoo and set. Now they make the perfect snugs to settle in for tea and cake.

The food was delicious and the people very friendly, happy to answer all my questions and have me nosy around. A very lovely place.
